Holding Faith

One woman's spiritual journey through life, hanging on to faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the author and finisher and perfecter of that faith. " . . . that by them you may wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith . . . " (I Timothy 1: 18c, 19; ESV)

A Tribute to Old-Fashioned Girls

Mrs. Wilt, over at The Sparrow's Nest, posted this You Tube video today. As you watch it, ponder these verses of Scripture:

The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
~ Psalm 45:13 ~

Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
~ Proverbs 31:29 ~

Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright.
~ Proverb s 20:11 ~

Fearfully and Wonderfully

I am watching the Discovery Health channel - a program about problems with twin pregnancies - and they're showing amazing intrauterine pictures. I am reminded of God's words in Psalm 139, verses 13 - 16 (CEV)

You are the one who put me together inside my mother's body,
and I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me.
Everything you do is marvelous!
Of this I have no doubt.
Nothing about me is hidden from you!
I was secretly woven together deep in the earth below,
but with your own eyes you saw my body being formed.
Even before I was born,
you had written in your book everything I would do.

Every conception is a miracle, every birth amazing. We are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made!

Grace's New Mexico Trip

Would you take time to pray for my daughter, Grace, and the team from Open Door Baptist Church as they minister to the people of Grants, New Mexico? They left on July 4, and will be there until next Monday. There are several small groups, and they are running Backyard Bible Clubs and Youth Rallies throughout the week. Grace is being challenged as she deals with the other members of the team, and the children and teens she comes in contact with every day. She is also dealing with her physical afflictions - a kneecap problem and a very hard motel bed.

Grace was able to lead a young boy to Christ on Tuesday!

Visit Grace's blog to see some pictures!

Liberty

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound . . .

~ Isaiah 61:1, ESV

These words were quoted by Jesus, the Messiah, when he entered the synagogue to publicly begin his earthly ministry (see Luke 4:18.) They remind me that true freedom is found only in a relationship with Jesus Christ and the liberty that comes through living a life free from the guilt of one's sin.

On this 232nd Fourth of July, I am thankful for the liberties I have through living in the United States, and most importantly, through my relationship with Jesus!
